Frequently Asked Questions
Hopefully we've covered most issues on the previous pages, but feel free to ask about anything you're unsure of. We'll update this section to include new questions posted.

That will depend on how many bookings come in for your area. It also helps if there are bookings for areas on a route to you. In a lot of cases it would be just a few days and we are aiming to make it no more than a couple of weeks. Once you submit your booking we'll keep you advised. Please keep in mind that, at this stage, this is a new service and like all new things will take a while to get of the ground. We are activly promoting the service, but if you belong to a biking group or a biking forum and feel like giving us a mention we'd be very gratefull.

I assume this relates to all year riding. If you're putting the bike into winter storage the coating will last for as long as it's stored away. With riding, this depends on how often you ride and how often you'll be washing your bike down. One reason we give the bike a good clean first is to give ACF-50 the best conditions to adhere and seal in a clean bike, not a dirty one. So imagine if you like, three layers; clean bike - ACF-50 - road crud. The ACF50 is acting as an active barrier between the road crud and your bike, the only reason you'll want to wash this crud off is cosmetic. When you wash it you'll generally only hose down the exposed bits, though each time you do you'll take away a little of the ACF-50 barrier with it. Using a detergent or bike cleaner will increase the amount you remove. In the 'hidden' areas where corrosion would normally form unseen and where you can't get at the dirt, the ACF-50 barrier will not have been washed off as much and will continue to protect for up to 12 months. Generally, depending on the above, you could expect 2-3 months before you'll have washed off the coating on exposed sections. You'll be able to tell when water no longer beads off the coated areas.

To partially answer this have a look at the previous question 'How long will the coating last between top-ups...'. We don't treat the outside of panels and fairing with ACF-50 because they're mostly fiberglass or plastic which won't rust. Instead we polish these areas to keep them shiny and protected, so in that respect the more you carry on polishing the better. For all the other areas you can relax knowing ACF-50 is keeping it clean and protected.
As we've said above, it's not very economical to treat a single bike at one location. To get round this we've introduced a system of 'hosting'. If someone has the space and facilities to accomodate an additional bike or two we invite them to act as a host. We check our bookings database to find a host as close as possible to you and ask if they will accept your bike for treatment at their chosen location. Neither you or the host are under any obligation to accept an arrangment. Once an arrangment has been made and enough bookings are in for that area we'll contact you both to arrange a visit date and approximate time, it's up to you to agree a drop off and collection time for your bike. Not only does this provide the facility to get your bike treated, it's also a great oportunity to meet a fellow motorbiker near you. We do ask that you respect the hosting offer being made, and please ensure that you honour any date and time arrangements you make. To protect the host you must acknowledge the booking Terms and Conditions.

We know that some people won't have the space or facilities to have their bike treated at their home location, nor to accomodate other bikes. It might be that you don't know of any other motorbikers in your area to make up the two or three bikes needed for a booking date. We also know that most motorbikers have a great community spirit and are willing to help out others if they can. So; if you feel you can offer the facilities to accomodate another one or two bikes as well as your own we invite you to act as a host. If someone in your area submits a booking indicating that they are looking for their bike to be hosted for treatment we'll contact you to ask if you'll accept them. At this stage they will not know who you are and you are under no obligation to accept them. If you agree, we'll put you in touch with each other, once enough bookings are in for your area we'll confirm a visit date and approximate time so you can make arrangements for them to get their bike to your location and collect it after treatment. We do ask that you respect their motorbike whilst it is at your chosen location, remember it's as valuable to them as yours is to you. To protect you as a host we insist that the person who's motorbike you are hosting acknowledges acceptance our Terms and Conditions which contain an Indemnity Release.

It's entirely down to cost. Let's say you live at Southhampton, for us to travel from our base in Co. Durham down to you would be a six hundred mile, twelve hour return trip. The cost of treating your motorbike to recover the cost of that journey would be totally unrealisitic. By taking mutiple bookings, not only for your area but also on the route down and back, means the travelling time and costs are spread over all the bookings. This means we can treat your bike for the same price as one a couple of miles away from us.
